We are looking for professional, energetic and caring registered nurse to serve as our camp nurse this summer.
Dates: Thursday, June 6, 2024 through Friday, August 9, 2024*
Timing: 8:30AM – 3:30PM Daily
*Potential for additional hourly work in advance of the summer.
About Ramah Day Camp in Chicagoland:
Ramah Day Camp in Wheeling, Illinois, is a warm and nurturing environment where 275+ kids come to make great friends, grow socially, learn Jewish values and most importantly – to have fun. Campers entering pre-kindergarten through ninth grade enjoy sports, swimming, music, cookouts, arts & crafts and more.
Position Overview:
The nurse is responsible for the health and safety of the Ramah Day Camp community while camp is in session.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
• Provide first aid to campers and staff according to generally accepted principles and standards of care.
• Assess and triage patients seeking medical attention and refer to physician as needed and according to camp protocols.
• Provide first response in emergency situations and provide appropriate medical care as the situation requires.
• Administer prescribed medications as needed and or as ordered by physician and administer OTC medications on an as needed (PRN) basis in accordance with labeled instructions and standing orders.
• Monitor and document inpatient care and progress of campers / staff in the infirmary, contact camper families as appropriate.
• Administer treatments as necessary according to nurses’ scope of care, assessment and/or physician’s order.
Qualifications:
• The Summer Camp Nurse must be licensed (LPN or RN), and be currently registered, or have reciprocity, to practice in the State of Illinois.
• The Camp Nurse should relate well to groups of young people and enjoy outdoor activity, fresh air, and beautiful scenery!
• Experience operating independently in a professional medical setting.
Compensation: Beginning at $40.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
