SUMMARY:IASN Virtual Town Hall Meeting - Presentation on Down Syndrome
DESCRIPTION:Please join IASN for a Virtual Town Hall on January 9th. \nPresentation on Down Syndrome with Dr. Cathy DiVincenzo. \nDr. Cathy DiVincenzo is a lifelong Chicagoan and the first person in her family to graduate from college. She graduated from Rush University\nMedical College\, completed her residency in Pediatrics at Loyola University Medical Center\, and began a career in primary care Pediatrics in\n1999. \nDr. DiVincenzo became interested in working with children with Down syndrome after giving birth to her son Scott\, while she was a third year medical student. Scott is a triplet\, and has a healthy brother and sister. Scott had multiple health issues that are commonly associated with Down syndrome\, including congenital heart disease\, frequent ear infections and hypothyroidism. Dr. DiVincenzo realized she was in a\nunique position of caring and advocating for children with special needs\, and it became a career long focus. She volunteered her time at the Children’s Down syndrome clinic at Lutheran General Hospital for several years while continuing to run her own practice. \nDr. DiVincenzo recently retired from Kids First Pediatric Partners\, the practice she founded in 2004 and grew to include seven pediatricians and four nurse practitioners. She remains committed to the care of children with Down syndrome and their families. Now that her own children are 29 years old\, she has expanded her interests to the adult disability community and has recently joined the Board of Center for Independent Futures. \n1.0 CE Available Upon Completion \nSponsored by: Camp One Step

SUMMARY:IASN Poster Presentations
DESCRIPTION:SCHOOL NURSES ARE DOING TERRIFIC INNOVATIVE EVIDENCE-BASED PROJECTS\, PROGRAMS\, AND RESEARCH ON BEHALF OF THE BETTER HEALTH OF STUDENTS AND SCHOOL COMMUNITIES ALL ACROSS ILLINOIS! PLEASE SHARE YOUR GOOD WORK WITH THE IASN COMMUNITY WITH A POSTER PRESENTATION AT THE IASN ANNUAL CONFERENCE.\nThe IASN Inquiry and Innovation Committee accepts poster presentation submissions. The poster submission deadline is August 31st.\nApplicants will be notified of acceptance by September 8th and the final poster in electronic format (preferred) is due by October 1st. \nA poster presentation entails developing of a poster and engaging in discussion of the content with viewers. There is a reduced conference fee for accepted presenters. A Best Poster Award with a prize is awarded at the Conference! See Poster Tips below. \nContent that is commercial in nature will not be approved. \nIASN Poster Presentation Submission Directions\nEmail the following requirements to Maureen Rabbitte rabbitte21@gmail.com\n• Combination Bio and Conflict of Information form – see IASN Call for Posters\n• Cover letter to include:\n• Title of Presentation and brief description of the project\n• Name and credentials of primary presenter\n• Address\, email address\, and contact phone number\n• School district and/or organization Names and credentials of co-presenters\n• Sponsor or funding source for the project or research (if applicable). \nPlease make sure that all requirements have been included in your submission email. Contact Maureen Rabbitte rabbitte21@gmail.com with any questions. \nPoster Guidelines\nAccepted electronic posters will be printed for poster presenters. A poster template is provided for your convenience on the IASN website or you may design your own poster. Posters must be in a file format that can be printed 36” by 48”. Traditional hard copy trifold poster board presentations will also be accepted. \nPlease see Poster Judging Criteria on the IASN website. Posters will be judged for acceptance and a Best Poster Award will be presented at the Conference. \nFeel free to provide viewers with handouts of supplemental materials. Bring business cards if you have them and consider a sign-in sheet for participants to request more information. Dress professionally as if you were making an oral presentation. \nElectronic Poster Tips\n• Use Power Point to create the poster. You may use the provided template (see IASN website) or design your own poster. Posters need to be formatted to print size of 36” by 48”.\n• Include your project title\, your name\, credentials\, and the name of your institution.\n• Choose a simple font such as Arial\, Helvetica\, or Prestige Elite and stick with it. See the poster template for recommendations regarding font size.\n• Avoid overuse of outlining and shadowing\, it can be distracting. To make something stand out\, use a larger font size\, bold\, or underline instead.\n• Keep each panel relatively short and to the point. Consider bulleted phrases instead of full sentences.\n• Frame text by putting a box around to help readers focus on a standout point. Be mindful to leave enough white space so as to not visually\noverwhelm the viewer.\n• Whenever possible\, use graphs\, charts tables\, figures\, pictures\, or lists instead of text to get your point across. Images need to be high resolution or they appear fuzzy when printed.
