DESCRIPTION:The School Nurse’s Role With IEP’s \nA free Webinar Co-Sponsored by: The Illinois Association of School Nurses and The NASN Special Needs School Nurses – Special Interest Group. \nThe purpose of this educational activity is to inform school nurses regarding their role with serving students through a special education IEP and how to document health information on the IEP. \nWhen: Thursday\, July 22\, 2021  7:00 – 8:30pm EST / 6:00 – 7:30pm CST \nSpeakers: \nLisa A. Lawson\, Ed.D. Assistant Superintendent for Student Services\, Brandywine School District\, Willmington\, Delaware \nMaryAnn Strawhacker\, MPH\, BSN\, RN\, SEN. Special Education Nurse Consultant\, Heartland Area Education Agency\, Iowa \nObjectives: \n\nDescribe how a student may receive health services in one of the 13 categories of disability as defined by IDEA 2004.\nGive 2 examples of how states may differ in their application of federal and state special education law.\nDefine direct and indirect nursing services that can be included in an IEP and give an example of each.\nExplain where on the IEP forms to document health information and health services.\n\nCNE’s: 1.5 CNE’s will be provided upon completion of this program \nFor any questions\, please contact Linda Kimel at froglkimel@gmail.com. \nThe Illinois Association of School Nurses is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Ohio Nurses Association\, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
