2010 IASN Annual Conference Report
October 22 & 23, 2010
Northeastern Division is the host and planner for the 2010 IASN Annual Conference. The Conference will be held at the Marriott Chicago Northwest in Hoffman Estates on October 22nd & 23rd. The conference center is on the northwest corner of I-90 and Rt. 59. It is easy to get to and visible from the highway. The conference program will be offered on Friday evening and all day Saturday. We continue to work on securing presenters. The local area offers many great entertainment, dining and recreational attractions. Our hope is that attendees will bring their families. There will be plenty to keep spouses and children entertained during the conference program. All attendees should plan to stay Saturday evening and Sunday to enjoy some much deserved leisure to balance out the conference. Can you guess the theme? Stay tuned for more information.

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is conducting two autism and genetics research studies headed by Dr. Edwin Cook, a leading researcher in the field, at the Institute for Juvenile Research.
We are currently recruiting subjects. The brochures attached describe each study in more detail. I thought that this would be a great place for us to connect with interested families.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like hard copies of the brochures. You can reach me via email at

Recommendation from Illinois Association of School Nurses
Regarding H1N1 Influenza
The Illinois Association of School Nurses recognizes the school nurse as the front line public health expert in the school setting. As school districts develop policies and procedures regarding pandemic influenza such as H1N1, the certified school nurse plays a vital role in this process, and serves as the liaison between the school district and all community health agencies. IASN supports recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), National Association of School Nurses (NASN), and local health departments. NASN and the CDC send out information frequently and updates will be sent via the IASN list serve.
The link to CDC is on the IASN web page under links.
